I like shaved ice that is very thin and melt almost instantly, and I picked the 2020 model over the 2019 model because it can shave frozen fruit without having to freeze the fruit in the mold. I am happy to report that it did it job very well, and not nearly as loud as the regular ice shaver using ice cubes, The knob at the front is easy to adjust. ***Once I figured out to turn it for thicker ice when the shaved ice doe snot come out, it is so easy to use. After the thicker (than desired) ice came out, I turn the knob to have thinner ice.*** The thinly shaved ice looks like delicate lace, and have a fine texture that melts quickly. It is very different from the regular shaved ice that is more of crushed tiny ice pieces (the machine can do this as well, but you can get a much cheaper, albeit louder, one for such shaved/crushed ice). **We have used frozen mixed berries straight from a bag**, and the deep colored shaved fruit is gorgeous on white shaved ice. When there were only few berries left, we put a disk of ice on the top to get all of the berries shaved. While the price tag is very high, I am glad to being able to make shaved ice the way I want. Local Asian market does not sell shaved ice this year, and we are not traveling to Asia this year. This ice shaver brings a little bit of home taste to me.
